Hope.

I feel like I got my country back. I am far to the left of Obama, and I know he’s not going to live up to my hopes, or my wants. But still, I feel such hope.

I’ve never felt about my government, the way I feel right now. I feel empowered to help make change.

Today, for perhaps the first time, I feel proud to be an American.

I am old enough to have felt proud to be an American at various points in my life, but it has been a while and it's nice to have the feeling back.

It is strange, my friends and I were just talking about this. As if we now can feel patriotic, proud, and not pretend we are from Canada if leaving the country. :-)

I too am far left of Obama and I am trying to keep myself from putting him on a pedestal. Like Bishop Robinson said in his prayer, he is human, not a Messiah.

God, if feels good to have hope and pride again.

I'm proud, too, Kirstin. I'm still praying.
